As most of you might know, October is breast cancer awareness month. And Berkeley Women in Business proved that they hold Haas’s defining principle of going beyond themselves when they tabled at Upper Sproul selling homemade cake pops on October 18 and 19 this week. All proceeds will go towards a Breast Cancer Organization of BWIB’s choice. BWIB is still voting on whether to donate to American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen.
Going beyond oneself involves looking at the larger picture and seeing how we can be part of the progress towards a greater good. As female leaders, BWIB recognizes the common statistics that 1 in 8 US women will be affected by breast cancer in the course of their lifetime. Breast cancer research plays a huge role in developing more advanced treatments to better the survival rates of women diagnosed with cancer. BWIB therefore takes it upon itself to contribute to this selfless cause in order to support breast cancer awareness for fellow women in the nation.
BWIB will be selling cake pops again on Monday, October the 22nd, from 12nn-4pm at the same location. This will be your last chance to get BWIB’s delicious bites as well as assist them in their initiative to increase breast cancer awareness. Your support will be greatly appreciated!
